Guru Nanak Dev Study Centre

Guru Nanak Dev Studies Centre was established in the college under UGC Scheme -Epoch Making Social Thinkers of India as per the guidelines of 11th plan on 24th January, 2011. This centre is established with a view to spread the divine message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The centre is equipped with various audio visual aid like computers, laptop, LCD etc. for showing documentary films on Guru Nanak Dev Ji to facilitate the researchers and students to have in depth study of philosophical thoughts of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, A library is also maintained in the centre .

Establishment of Library

With a view to spread the divine message of Guru Nanak Dev, a library was set up at the centre. It was equipped with the philosophy and life history of Guru Nanak Dev Ji with more than 225 books and some photos related to Guru Nanak Dev’s visits and his divine actions. This effort was undertaken with a view to facilitate the researchers and the students to have in depth the study of the philosophical thoughts of Guru Nanak Dev ji.

Activities of the Centre

1. An Inter-Class Quiz Competition was organized by the centre on 10/02/11. A large number of students participated in the Quiz competition. Mr. Sunil Aggarwal, the President of the college Governing Body, while inaugurating the above said competition spoke on the life sketch of Guru Nanak Dev and declared that he would meet the entire expenditure from his personal account. He exhibited his deep reverence and faith in Prophet Guru Nanak Dev Ji who had enlightened the society in human incarnation. Winners of the Quiz were suitably rewarded. Prof Bimiesh Gupta performed the duty of the Quiz Master.

2. A Declamation Contest was organized by the Centre in the college campus on 02/03/2011. Mr Sandeep Aggarwal, Vice President of the College Governing Body was the Chief Guest on the occasion .The topics of the Declamation Contest were as under:

a) Guru Nanak as a Saint, Philosopher and Guide.

b) Guru Nanak an Apostle of peace and humanity.

c) Historical perspective of 4 Pilgrimages undertaken by Guru Nanak.

d) Relevance of Guru Nanak’s Teachings in the Global Societal Tensions.

e) Guru Nanak ‘s Scientific Concept of Solar System.

National Seminar

One day National Seminar was organized on 9/11/2011 on the occasion of Birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in which different scholars from Punjab, Haryana and Delhi were called to present their papers and lectures . Dr. Jagbir Singh (Retd. Punjabi Department, Delhi University, Delhi,), Dr. Ravinder Singh (Associate Professor, Punjabi Department, Dayal Singh College, Delhi), Dr. N.S, Kaushal (Retd, Punjabi Department, K.U. Kurukshetra) Prof. Gurbhajan Gill (President. Punjabi Sahit Academy, Ludhiana), Dr. Rupinderjit Gill (Associate Professor, Punjabi Department. Arya College, Pathankot) presented their research papers on the topic ” GURU NANAK BANI VICH MANAVTA DA SANKALP”. In this Seminar Dr. Amarjit Singh Dua (Director General Education, D.S.G.C, New Delhi) was the Chief Guest. About 45 delegates participated in the Seminar.

Field Actions

Strictly in accordance with the decision taken in the meeting of the Advisory committee held on 22/10/11, first field action was under taken on 04/11/2011 wherein about 45 students led by the Coordinator Mr. Bimlesh Kumar Gupta and Co-coordinator Dr. Sandeep Kaur Sekhon went to Batala and Sri Amritsar.
