Rules for Admission
Admission to M.Com. (1st semester) is based on the merit list prepared by the college as per guidelines of the Panjab University and reservation policy of state govt. The students seeking admission to M.Com. 1st semester will present themselves before incharge of admissions on the dates to be specified on the college notice board. 1. The duration of the course leading to the degree of Master of Commerce (M.Com.) shall be of two academic years. Each year shall be divided into two semesters. The examination for the first and the third semesters will be held in the month of December/January or on such dates as may be fixed by the university. 2. The minimum qualification for admission to the first semester of the course shall be: a) B.Com/B.B.A./B.Com (Hons.) with not less than 45% marks in the aggregate. OR b) A graduate with Honours in Economics OR Mathematics OR Statistics OR Commerce with not less than 45% marks in aggregate. OR 3. Each regular student shall be assessed internally in each subject on the basis of i) seminar ii) project and viva-voce iii) internal assessment iv) Project and Workshop. Viva-Voce may be conducted jointly by the internal and external examiners. 4. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th Semester shall be open to a regular student who: a) has been on the rolls of the department / College during one semester preceding the 2nd, 3rd or 4th Semester examination as the case may be. b) has attended not less than 75% of lectures and attended seminars, case discussions, field trips, project work, etc. for each paper. 5. A candidate, who, having passed the second semester examination if discontinues his/her studies, may be permitted to join the 3rd semester within two years of his/her passing the second semester examination. 6. The medium both for instruction and examination shall be English. 7. The minimum number of marks to pass the examination in each semester shall be : i) 35% Marks in each paper in the examination separately. Failing which internal assessment will not be included. ii) 35% Marks in Seminar, Project and Viva-Voice iii) 50% in the aggregate of (i) and (ii) aboveSubjects Offered
