A webinar on the topic “Overview of GST (Goods & Services Tax)” was organised by KamlaLohtia S. D. College, Ludhiana by the P.G. Department of Commerce and Management. The resource person for the occasion was Mr. Vinamar Gupta, Chartered Accountant practicing in the field of Direct and Indirect Taxes. He has conducted various seminars and interactive sessions related to GST. During his lecture, he elaborated various concepts in GST like Tax Structure before GST, Implementation of GST, taxes subsumed into GST and GST rates alongwith the procedure related to GSTIN. He gave a database comprehensive explanation of the way GST has simplified all the classifications and procedures regarding Indirect tax and further stressed that youth has a significant role to play in ensuring its complete implementation by becoming aware consumers. He also attended to the queries of the students related to impact on GST on trade,employment generation and segregation of tax component in the price. Principal Dr. RajeshKumar Marwaha in his address eulogized the significance of this knowledge enhancing and enlightening interaction and asserted that a right guidance and description about GST is most essential in the present economic scenario. Towards the end, Prof. Deepak Dhingra from P.G.Dept. of Commerce and Management presented the vote of thanks. The College Managing Committee headed by President Sh. Dharam Paul Jain along with Sh. Sunil Aggarwal, Sh.Sandeep Aggarwal, Sh. Sandeep Jain, Sh. B.M. Ralhan, Sh. Shaman Jindal and Sh. R.D. Singhal also had a word of admiration for this knowledgeable and purposeful session.
